How to get the most out of your new air fryer!

 In Blog

The air fryer gets a lot of credit for being a healthy alternative for frying your favorite treats but lets get real, the best part of air frying is not having to clean up after a greasy fried mess! This is one of my favorite gadgets to use in the kitchen, it’s basically the convection oven I always dreamed of and never had. But unlike my dream oven, it is actually affordable and comes in a smaller, more accessible package. Also, it gives your food that all-around crispiness without soaking it in oil, easily fits on your countertop and is a cinch to clean!

Need another reason to love it? Unlike a conventional oven that needs to preheat for 5-10 minutes, the air fryer gets up to temp almost immediately and uses much less energy than your oven does. Why heat up your oven for a personal serving of french fries?

What can you make with your air fryer?

Surprisingly one of my favorite ways to use my air fryer is to reheat leftovers. Have you ever microwaved leftover pizza just to find a soggy glob on a plate. In just 3-4 minutes in the air fryer will reheat your pizza with that same crispy crust that you enjoyed the night before.

Some of my favorite things to make in the air fryer are:

  • French fries
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Egg rolls
  • Tofu bites
  • Veggie burgers
  • Crispy tempeh
  • Roasted Chickpeas
  • Toasted bread
  • And so much more!

You can also use your air fryer to crisp up veggies for your stir fry, roast your favorite cut of meat, or dry fruit for a healthy and delicious snack!

Be patient as you master cooking with your air fryer!

I haven’t always been good at using my air fryer, at the beginning I burned or dried out all kinds of things. Just as with any new appliance, there is a bit of a learning curve. Things that I was used to making in my oven at 400 degrees would burn in the air fryer at the same temp!
I have found that the perfect temp for my needs is the 370-380 degree range. Your air fryer may be somewhat different though, so be sure to play around with it and find what works for you. And, although air fryers don’t require the use of any oil, you can use a little bit of oil or oil spray if you find some foods sticking. Once you get the hang of it, you will find yourself using it daily!
